I honestly can't remember the last time I saw one. I see why they didn't sell well.

Your father in drive? Do you ever put your father in park? Or, is he just always moving?

Yeah. Caravan + Cost - Stow-N-Go = Flop.

My local VW had one designated as their courtesy shuttle after you dropped off your car for service, and I remember being absolutely appalled by the interior, and then it made sense why they didn't sell well.

Not a fan of Chrysler products but they make a good van. my step mom has a T&C that's fully loaded. It's a nice thing to ride in.

Indeed. Even the base-models are nice. Up here, they start at $20K!

Is it like Speed? If he stops moving he blows up unless Keanu Reeves can diffuse the bomb?

That seems way too cheap. My guess would've been $30k

Absolutely. I wouldn't have been as shocked if I hadn't known it was a VW. I love most VW interiors. Nicely weighted knobs and buttons.. soft touch, firm, sturdy, well constructed... everything (stripper models excluded) feels nice, and believe me, I play the "superior interior" card on the regular if a GTI debate occurs. The inside of that shuttle felt so cheap and had the plastic rattles so bad I couldn't hold a conversation with the driver.

False! They are doing plenty of things right! It's remarkable how quickly Americans forget/forgive mistakes and malfunctions (Ignition switch debacle, air bags, exploding gas tanks, etc.) but Americans will NEVER FORGET the 1999-2004 Volkswagen Auto Group product that they, or their friend, or their friends friend, or their friends second cousin twice removed once owned that was a money pit and basically broke or malfunctioned in every way possible. People decried the Ignition switch malfunction while in line at the GM dealership!**sigh** It was a bad stretch, and they aren't still making cars like they did back then.
VW is making quality stuff these days, they're just a bit confusing as far as a brand goes. They have stripper jetta's, and $60,000 Touregs. They're occupying a pretty wide swathe of market. My base GTI has been nothing short of wonderful since 2012, and I think VW has made a concerted effort to reinforce that they are not still making POS cars that they were in the early 00's (though people conveniently forget the shit-fest GM/Ford/Chrysler rolled off the production line in the 90's). Apparently, Hell hath no fury like that of a consumer scorned by a VW product.

I won't buy anything from Chrysler. They still haven't proven to me that they can make a car that lasts beyond the warranty. I don't trust GM. Ford, yes.
As far as VW goes their cheapening of their best products was a huge turn off. I was in a either 2012 or 2013 "fully loaded" Passat. It was the worst new car interior I have been in in the past few years. Everything felt like it was made on a budget of about $7. The seats were uncomfortable. There's was nothing I liked about it. I haven't been in any newer but I was really disappointed.
I have heard lots of good things about the GTI though. It seems to have avoided the bad things that happened to the rest of the line up.

I actually think we've shared this debate before.. I guess they're hit or miss. Can't say I've sat in all their models. I think if VW worked on remaining consistent, and trying not to be all things to all people, they could continue to shine the tarnish from their image. Ford has been impressing the hell out of me lately. The new Focus looks pretty sweet. I'm looking forward to what it'll look like in ST flavor. Sadly, the RS is not in my pricerange. Ford has avoid most major pitfalls and has been rolling out what seems like quality stuff for a while now. My inner Macho-man wants the 3 liter EcoBoost F150, because 400+ft/lbs of tq, 4wd, and comfortable semi-luxury.

We might have. If I were to buy a VW it would be a GTI.
I think they need to bring SEAT here. It can occupy the lower end like it does in Europe. Let VW return to semi luxury like it used to. It was harder when they were that way because people weren't willing to spend that kind of money on a small car. I think they would now.
I would love an RS. I considered a Fiesta ST but I drive too much. I looked into the GTI but too pricey for my needs. Those EcoBoost trucks sound fun. I had one next to me today and I could hear the turbos spinnin.

Thats a great idea! They can even bring the nicer SEAT's. I can dig a Cupra Leon. I'd even take Skoda's too.
